National Service

Issuance of Deferment and Exemption Cards

In order to facilitate our on-going efforts aimed at expediting delivery of National Military Service Deferment Cards or Exemption Cards received by our office, Algerian citizens who have submitted applications to that effect are hereby requested to contact the Office of Consular Affairs of the Embassy of Algeria. To that end, applicants can call the Office of Consular Affairs at (202) 265-2800, extensions 128.

Registration & Deferment:

National Service registration (Recensement) is required at the age of 18. This procedure is automatically carried out by the Embassy for all Algerian nationals who reside in Namibia as well as those who are registered at the Embassy.

Presidential Decisions for Exemption

If you are applying to be exempted from the National Service on the basis of Presidential Decisions, please provide the following documents:

1. Application form
2. Original full birth certificate.
3. Two (2) pictures
4. Work certificate or Studies certificate
5. Copy of the Consular card.

Deferment:

If you are applying to be deferred from the National Service, please provide the following documents:

1. Application form
2. Two (02) Pictures
3. Birth Certificate
4. Studies certificate for the current year.
5. Copy of the Consular card

Exemption for medical reasons

If you are applying to be exempted from the National Service on the basis of a medical condition, please provide the following documents:
1. Application /? Fiche de Renseignements Service National
2. Medical Certificates
3. X-rays (if any)
4. Results of specialized medical tests
5. Surgical operation protocol
6. Clinical summary of the illness
7. Hospitalization certificates
5. Copy of the Consular card

Exemption for social reasons

If you are applying to be exempted from the National Service on the basis of social reasons, please provide the following documents:

1. A letter addressed to the Ministry of National Defense.
2. Two recent photographs.
3. A family record of civil status (for those who are married).
4. Copy of diplomas if any.
5. Work Certificate.
6. Family record of civil status for the parents.
